# Influence sans manipulation


Andi Roberts had a [nice article](https://andiroberts.com/leadership-questions/how-to-influence-others-without-manipulating) on how to influence people without being manipulative.

There are 5 different types of influence methods:
1. Rationalization (logic)
2. Assertion (authority)
3. Negotiating (middle ground)
4. Inspiring (vision)
5. Bridging (relationship)

Overuse has the opposite effect. 

Most importantly, we should humbly pick the method that resonates with the other party over our modus operandum.
