The military's core tenet of avoiding miscommunication is achieved by asking clarifying questions. For effective communication, the military applies the principles of data duplication and additional information. Repetition of critical information reinforces it, and specific additional information avoids ambiguity.

The job of being an engineer isn't to sound smart, it's to make sure we build the right things.
